Gerard's first day.

The halls at school were crowded with people from different cities. Gerard was scared of going in. Maybe it was not the people themselves; it was what people would think of him. He was no longer the older one; he was no longer in New Jersey, but New York. His parents had split up, and he had gone to New York to live with his father. Maybe that was the worst part of it. That Mikey, his sweet younger brother, was no longer there to say it was okay, that they had each other even if they had never had friends. At least they had been together. However, it was no longer like that and he felt a stranger everywhere, even at home. Because that was not home, his brother was home, and when he was not around, Gerard wasn’t himself at all. He felt lost and sad because he missed him way too much to take it. He went inside the school and the bell rang. He hurried to his locker and put all his stuff on it. He closed it and a guy came across the other hall, running. None of the saw the other, and before they could do something, both crashed and fell down.
“Hey! Watch out!” Gerard shouted in anger as he stood up.
“I’m sorry. Are you okay?” Gerard nodded as the boy, whose eyes reflected the same fear Gerard felt, looked at him. He was as tall as he was, and he had funny, curly hair, like a fro.
“What’s your name?”
“I’m Gerard,” he said, thinking that, maybe, living in New York was not going to be as hard as he thought. After all, he would be able to visit Mikey on weekends.
